The award for the longest running song to go around and around in my brain goes to Across the Universe by the Beatles – I’ve been singing it since Monday afternoon. No other songs have been present in my head – I think this is a record! (actually, it IS a record, recorded first in 1968, then again in 1970 on their Let It Be album) 😛 I miss playing records. I used to have this pink portable record player and about 200 records of all kinds when I was a kid, and I’d spend *endless* hours just listening to music and giving all my little toys a ride on the turntable. I do still have a good collection of albums and a record player, so I guess all I need are some speakers. I love the crackling sound that they make, the endless spinning, and of course, listening to 33 1/3 speed records on 45 or even 78 – that could make anyone sound like a chipmunk! (and I think the toys liked it too!)
🙂

About 15 years ago or so, I worked at the Vegetarian Restaurant with a beautiful and talented young girl named Brit Biribauer from France. We became fast friends and talked at length about music, and making things, and the ups and downs of life. She recorded an album with her musician boyfriend Luc (which I still have in my record collection) and was aspiring to be a singer and dancer, and with all her talent I didn’t have any hesitation that she just might make it. I found myself wondering about her today, out of the blue, about her lovely smile and cute French accent, and what she might be up to these days. As the day progressed, my mind wandered here and there, I got busy doing things and thus, forgot about the lovely Brit once again.
Rick and I try to get to the Dufferin Park Farmer’s Market every Thursday, to pick up fruits and veggies, and to enjoy the walk through the park. Today, we bought some root veggies, kale and apples and dined on crepes and burritos for dinner, while standing in the rain listening to a dreadlocked musician strumming a tune on his guitar. We bought him a burrito too 🙂 But standing there, next to him, a face I recognized from many years back. A man, a baby. We smile and nod, and I eventually say to him, “I know you, but I’m not sure where from”. He responded with “Yes, I know your face too”. And as we were wondering where, Brit’s memory came back to me and voila! la connection! Luc! Apparently, Brit is back in France and is doing very well there, and Luc has moved on to become a wonderful daddy 🙂 Next time I see him, I will ask for Brit’s email address.
Don’tcha just love those out of the blue moments? I sure do 😉

I had a fantastic time this past weekend! I was asked by a friend to do visuals for Naissance in Peterborough and it really gave me some good practice. Ron and Scott came along for support and I learned alot from Scott who sat beside me at times and showed me some good tips on using Resolume and just being a good VJ in general. Scott has had alot of practice and is now working full time as a VJ at a top Toronto club. Way to go Scott! Ron had some videos to show as well, but unfortunately, his computer was having hissy fits and not co-operating with what he wanted to do. He did a great job of taking over for me when I needed a break, and also many thanks for driving us all up to the party! Thanks Ron!! For their first party, this collective did an awesome job! I felt such an honour to be part of it. The psy scene in Peterborough is small but so nice – everyone is super friendly and caring – you can tell they all love each other very much and have been friends for some time. Their local chapter of Food not Bombs supplied an amazing vegan feast for everyone before the actual partying started. The food was SO good and it was so very nice to be able to share food with great people and have some awesome conversations in the meantime. Everyone worked so hard at putting on this party and it sure showed. Thanks to everyone who made this such a fantastic time. YOU ALL ROCKED MY WORLD!!! 🙂
Afterwards, we went to an afterparty where I got the opportunity to get to know some of these great people. It’s so inspiring to see young people work so well together. It sometimes reminds me of the pagananarchovegan days of my early 20’s and some of the things that we used to try to accomplish. It seems this has come full circle for me, but is SO much better than it used to be! YAY!! We headed home in the afternoon so I could go to my brother’s 40th birthday party in the evening. I think this is going to be a very busy spring/summer!
My sister in law put on a fantastic party for my brother. All of our cousins were there, some of our aunts and uncles as well as lots of Phil’s friends and co-workers. The house was full! Happy Birthday Phil!! I hope you are around for a long time yet. I love ya!! We headed back around 11:30 or so, as I was pretty darned tired (hadn’t really slept since Friday morning!) and Rick wanted to head to another party, so he dropped me off, and did dog duty while I fell into bed and dreamt of spinning kaleidoscopes, streaming starscapes, and the summer to come. Sunday was spent with a few friends with the bonus of a walk with the dogs to the mudpit that is Trinity-Bellwoods park. The spring thaw is certainly upon us, and Little Bear and Adhara had a fantastic time running around and getting super wet and muddy. We walked home on the main roads so that they could dry off some before we got back to the house. Nothing like crazy muddy dogs!! (and a good thing too!) as now I have some extra cleaning to do. 🙂

Suffice it to say it was a wonderful, interesting and surprising weekend. Sometimes I wonder if I should be pinching myself on a regular basis just to see if I’m dreaming or not. Usually I feel as though I have a pretty good grip on reality, but once in a while, something or someone will come along that could possibly change your life forever. I seem to be meeting quite a few of these people lately – and life could very definitely become a more interesting place to be for a while. Hmmmm…. 🙂

Well, my new diet sans wheat, sugar, yeast, cow dairy, and coffee seems to be paying off. While I haven’t really lost any real weight, the bloatedness I was constantly feeling is now mostly gone, and while I’m not feeling any excess of physical energy (I’ve actually been sleeping more than usual), I am feeling quite perky, not to mention HAPPY and less pissed off at the world in general. This is a good thing! I know my energy will increase over time (it actually takes alot of energy to heal), and it’ll just be a matter of time before I won’t be able to stay away from the gym or from riding my bike again (come on Spring!!) and then there will be no stopping me! I had a very spiritual experience over the weekend, and it’s given me more strength than I could have ever hoped for. Thank you most benevolent goddess!! *happydance*

My beautiful friend Vanessa sent this to me today and it made me laugh! Having had dogs and cats over the years, I can totally see this!! *hee*
Excerpts from a Dog’s Daily Diary:
8:00 am Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30 am A car ride! My favorite thing!
9:40 am A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
10:30 am Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
12:00 pm Lunch! My favorite thing!
1:00 pm Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
3:00 pm Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
5:00 pm Milk bones! My favorite thing!
7:00 pm Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
8:00 pm Wow! Watched TV with my master! My favorite thing!
11:00 pm Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!
Excerpts from a Cat’s Daily Diary:
Day 683 of my captivity: My captors continue to taunt me with
bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat,
while the other inmates are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I
nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.. In an
attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the floor.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their
feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since
it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely
made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. The
audacity! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices
tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of
the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I
overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.”
I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of
my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try
this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and
snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly
released –and seems to be more than willing to return. He is
obviously retarded! The bird has got to be an informant. I observe
him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he
reports my every move. The captors have arranged protective custody
for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe……. for now….

You scored as III – The Empress. The Empress is a maternal symbol. She is the mother figure who loves, nurtures and protects. She will protect you, she will always be there when you are in trouble. When you fall over and graze your knee, the Empress will kiss it better. Yet she is not a weak figure. Her compassion is strength. If her children are threatened she will stop at nothing to protect them. If well aspected in a Tarot spread, the Empress can symbolise security, protection and unconditional love. If badly aspected it can represent over-protectiveness, fear of risk taking and refusal to face the real world.

A friend of mine sent me this a while ago and of course, it made me chuckle. I definitely believe that my clown chakra is open, as I take every opportunity to see the light side of reality, and to laugh as much as I can. So laugh a little, will ya!
THE CLOWN CHAKRA
The clown Scientists have found that all our problems can be placed under one heading: SERIOUSNESS. Seriousness is the leading cause of everything, from Cancer to Re-incarnation.
Scientists from the Clown Academy have already discovered a new source of healing. It is a psychic energy point located between the heart chakra and the throat chakra: it is called the Clown chakra. If people are feeling miserable, if they have financial problems, if their relationship situation is in the pits, if they are in ill-health, if they need to sue people, if they find fault with their brother, then
obviously their Clown Chakra is closed.
When this happens, the Scientists have observed under high-powered microscope that the cells of every organ display a sad face 🙁 and when the Clown Chakra is open and functioning normally, the cells display a happy face 🙂
The Scientists realised that if a person is ill, it is because his mind has projected guilt onto the cells and his body has forced out the love that is normally found within each cell of the body. The cells are therefore saying “I Lack Love”, or ILL for short. The scientists also discovered that all disease is due to the fact that the cells are out of ease, or dis-eased.
When the Clown Chakra is open and working (or rather playing) properly, the psychic mechanism sucks up the misery, pain, or anger, resentment, grievances, unhappiness etc. and converts the energy into tiny heart shaped balloons. The red, heart-shaped balloons contain Love and Joy. These balloons are directed to the dis-eased cells or situation and a happy face appears instantly. When the light enters the darkness, the darkness is gone. Sometimes these red, heart-shaped balloons are called endorphins, due to the fact that when anyone experiences them, the feeling or separation ends. They experience being back home with All That Is and hence are no longer an orphan. This is the well-known end-orphan (endorphin) effect.
So if you think someone is attacking you, Clown Scientists recommend that you visualise sending that person red, heart-shaped balloons filled with Love and Joy.
Remember to keep your Clown Chakra open, and remember to laugh!
SERIOUSNESS CAUSES REINCARNATION.
